Project 1994 is our own personal home and our intention was to create a space that portrayed all the facets of humanity at their most honest.

As seen in the 2025 summer edition of Rue magazine, this home was envisioned to travel through the emotions of nostalgia, turmoil, tension and joy in order to portray humanity in all its facets.

Our first priority in the kitchen was to rotate the space to focus on the rolling green hills of the backyard. The cabinets received Broccoli Brown by Farrow and Ball for its ability to "feel reserved and comforting" and to mimic moss growing alongside a river. As soon as I read that description, I could hear the river trickling over the stones, moss under my feet and the sun peeking through the trees which gave me an immediate return to my childhood. This color sets the tone for the entire home, grounding everything around it. We added extra honed Statuario marble, custom roman shades fabricated by Dream House Interiors and sourced through The Expert. Our favorite little corner features the Nara Scallop shelves, a custom design of wrought iron and glass, designed and sold on our site.

The dining room features one of my favorite vintage finds, the dark stained oak table that reminded me of touring castles in Romania. A vintage rug from Yet Lovely grounds the space and Crate and Barrel Belmar slipcover banquette for those of us who prefer to eat crisscross apple sauce.

As we make our way into the formal sitting room, we turn up the heat and quirkiness in the pursuit of creating tension and joy. My goal was to portray the joy we achieve when conquering a stressful situation. The narrow room, asymmetrical fireplace and half wall into the entryway presented some challenges in terms of furniture layout. We remodeled the fireplace to minimize the visual noise and make it a backdrop instead of the focal point. Dream House Interiors custom drapes span the room while the chestnut sofa hugs the corner and brings attention to the Murano sconce and vintage artwork. Our custom white oak Luca table added the curves this angular room craved. One of my favorite vintage pieces that we've sourced is this quirky little hutch that holds all our favorite bottles of wine. We’ve convinced my nieces and nephew that it leads to Narnia and its charm seems to get better every day.

The entertainment room and powder bath received moody limewash on every surface, designed to mimic thunderstorms. The quote “I sat with my anger until she told me her name was grief” comes to mind when I sit here. With turmoil leading the emotion and creating such we knew we knew we needed an extremely large sofa. We sourced ours from Crate and Barrel and it's still the best seat in the house. The vintage glass pendant in the powder bath, cast a rainbow effect on the moody walls, portraying a glimpse of hope we were craving.

The 17th century tapestry takes center stage in the entryway with a vintage marble and iron table below. The stairs received vintage runners along with our custom hand forged Nara handrails that play on the Nara shelf in the kitchen.
